JERSEY CITY, NJ — Hudson County Executive Craig Guy tonight advanced a resolution before the Hudson County Board of County Commissioners authorizing the County to enter into a shared services agreement to support coordinated legal action and the sharing of legal expenses aimed at addressing and curbing the impacts of tourist helicopter operations flying over Hudson County communities.
“For far too long, our residents have had to deal with disruptive and, at times, unsafe helicopter traffic over their homes and neighborhoods. People in Jersey City, Hoboken, and Bayonne should not have to live with excessive noise, safety concerns, and operators that fail to stay within the boundaries of their agreements,” said Hudson County Executive Craig Guy. “Tonight’s action is another step forward in our fight to protect quality of life, strengthen enforcement, and make clear that Hudson County will use every tool available to stand up for our residents. My administration is committed to taking action and standing with our municipalities until we see real accountability and real relief.”

“The unchecked expansion of nonessential tourist helicopter traffic is dangerous, disruptive to quality of life, harmful to our environment and public health, and exacerbates noise pollution that alarms infants and the elderly alike. I commend County Executive Craig Guy for taking a strong, proactive stance to bring relief to our communities,” said State Senator Raj Mukherji (D-32).
The resolution builds on the County Executive’s ongoing efforts to secure relief for residents in Jersey City, Hoboken, and Bayonne who have raised longstanding concerns over excessive noise, public safety risks, and repeated helicopter activity that at times operates outside the terms of existing agreements.
Under County Executive Guy’s leadership, Hudson County has been actively coordinating with municipal officials, the Board of County Commissioners, and Congressman Rob Menendez to pursue stronger enforcement and relief for impacted neighborhoods.
The shared services agreement will strengthen Hudson County’s ability to coordinate with municipal partners as legal and regulatory efforts continue to address the impact of tourist helicopter activity on local communities.
