ORDINANCE AMENDING THE HUDSON COUNTY ADMINISTRATIVE CODE PURSUANT TO THE APPLICABLE PROVISIONS OF THE OPTIONAL COUNTY CHARTER LAW N.J.S.A 40:41A-1
ARTICLE 1, “General Provisions” through Article VI, “General Departmental Organization”

ARTICLE VII “Department of Law”
Sections 5-47 – 5-57: No changes
Amended to add: Section 5-58. Office of Inspector General.
A.Within the Department of Law, the Director shall appoint an Inspector General. The Inspector General shall promote efficiency, accountability, and integrity ofthe County government, including but not limited to the departments, divisions, authorities, agencies, boards, and nonprofits set forth in this Code. The InspectorGeneral shall perform the following duties and responsibilities:
a.Initiate, supervise, and/or conduct internal investigative activities as deemed necessary, including but not limited to fraud, waste, or misconduct in County government.
b.Recommend policies to the Executive, County Administrator, and County Counsel designed to detect, deter, prevent, and eliminate fraud, waste, and misconduct in County government.
c.Report to and cooperate fully with the County Counsel. Whenever the Inspector General has reasonable grounds to believe there has been a violation of criminal law or that a civil action should be initiated by the County of Hudson, the Inspector General shall immediately refer such matter to the County Counsel. The County Counsel shall be responsible for referring matters to the appropriate agency or agencies for criminal prosecution or civil litigation.
d.In consultation with the County Counsel, refer matters to the County Administration, or such other department or division as is warranted, for further action as may be appropriate.
ARTICLE VIII “Department of Finance and Administration” through ARTICLE XXVII “Transitional Provisions”

WHEREAS, any numbering, formatting, or syntax shall reflect a logical order of the Hudson County Administrative Code.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the County of Hudson, that:
1. The aforesaid recitals are incorporated herein as though fully set forth at length.
2.The Board hereby authorizes the County Executive, Craig Guy, or County Administrator, Abraham Antun, or Deputy County Administrator, David B. Drumeler, or their lawfully appointed designee, to execute any and all documents and take any and all actions necessary to complete and realize the intent and purpose of this Ordinance.
3.This Ordinance shall take effect immediately.
