Hudson County Improvement Authority
BACKGROUND
The HCIA is responsible for providing a wide range of needed services to the residents and businesses of Hudson County including solid waste management, recycling, affordable housing, and transportation management. Since the HCIA’s inception in 1974, Hudson County’s recycling rate has increased from 3% to more than 30%. The HCIA works consistently to educate both residents and businesses on the benefits of recycling. Our Recycling Division has offered audience participation presentations to the majority of the public, private, and parochial schools across the county and we have awarded more than 200 mini-grants to various nonprofit organizations for litter clean-ups, demonstrating our commitment to promoting community-led environmental health initiatives.
Projects
Educational messaging campaign
HCIA is leading a countywide educational messaging campaign to encourage residents to keep our waterways clean by reporting litter, participating in local litter clean-up efforts, and refraining from littering and encouraging others to do the same.
