Arts Education Pilot Program

Mission
The Hudson County Arts Education Program will provide leadership, planning facilitation, and support to increase access to quality arts, history, heritage, cultural and music programming to bridge the gap between amazing, local, non-profit organizations and all Hudson County Schools Districts, grades K- 12.

About the Program
In early 2021, we reached out to local, non-profit, art organizations and all Hudson County School districts to introduce the idea of creating a Hudson County Arts Education Pilot Program. The purpose of the Program is to give students access to quality Arts Education programs developed by the non-profit art organizations that may not be offered in the schools’ overall Arts Education programs. Our goal is to bridge the gap between these amazing, local, non-profit art organizations in our communities and all Hudson County Schools. We are excited to announce that the Pilot Program is launching this Fall 2021/Spring 2022.

These organizations were so excited to be a part of this initiative and to work with schools who are equally passionate about giving students more opportunities to be exposed to a variety of Arts Education programs. These programs will take place during the school day with teaching artists working alongside classroom teachers to enhance and integrate Arts Education for all grades K-12. The programs are aligned with NJ Visual and Performing Arts Education Curriculum and the Social Emotional Learning Framework and will be embedded in the schools’ curriculum.

The Pilot Program includes 9 non-profit organizations providing programming for 16 schools throughout 6 districts of Hudson County reaching over 1700 students. In the long run, the program will increase access to arts education by students in all grades within all Hudson County Schools and will create partnerships with the non-profit local art organizations that will increase opportunities for student internships and career development. The art organization are funded by our office and provided to schools for no cost.

COMING SOON — An application portal for Non-Profit Organizations and Hudson County Schools to apply for 2022/2023 School Year.
