Jersey City-The Hudson County Board of Freeholders accepted $47,619 from the New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety Operation Helping Hand Program to improve access to substance abuse services.

The term for this grant is until August 31, 2021.

The purpose of this grant fund is to provide a substance treatment program that will improve access to substance abuse services for youth and their families with credentialed healthcare professional.

This funding has been offered to establish, enhance, and expand programs in which law enforcement officers play an active role in identifying individuals with substance use disorders. Working together with community partners the program can serve as a point of entry for treatment and recovery support services.

Chairman Anthony Vainieri and the Board of Chosen Freeholders are committed to providing the necessary resources needed to assist youths and families seeking treatment for substance abuse.
