The Hudson County Board of Freeholders approved the County of Hudson to accept funds from the U.S. Department of Justice Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant program totaling $256,092 for the Hudson County Multi-Jurisdictional Gang, Gun and Narcotics Taskforce through the Office of the County Prosecutor.

The purpose of the program is to allow the county and local municipal law enforcement agencies to remove violent criminal networks through a coordinated effort. This includes targeted gang, gun, drug offenders and drug offense networks through coordinated investigation, arrest, prosecution and conviction.

Chairman Anthony Vainieri, the Board of Chosen Freeholders and the County of Hudson are committed to providing the needed crime control and crime prevention resources to make Hudson County safer. These funds will allow municipalities within Hudson County to increase law enforcement training and increase police presence in vulnerable areas.
