JERSEY CITY, NJ — Today, Hudson County Executive Craig Guy attended the swearing in ceremony for Maryanne Kelleher, as she was appointed Hudson County Superintendent of Elections. Kelleher was confirmed to the position by the Senate Judiciary Committee on May 20.
“I thank Governor Phil Murphy and the Judiciary Committee for their efforts in working to confirm Maryanne Kelleher as our Superintendent of Elections,” said County Executive Guy. “With this critical election coming up, it’s important we have competent, qualified, and skilled leadership in this role. Maryanne is a pillar of electoral integrity and I’m confident she will excel in this position.”
Born and raised in Jersey City, Kelleher’s career in public service began with the City of Jersey City in the Division of Cultural Affairs, where she served as the agency’s Director from 2005-2014. Kelleher most recently served as Director for the Partnership for a Healthier JC with Jersey City Health and Human Services, where she managed day to day operations for the organization. Kelleher is an active member of Hudson County’s community, volunteering for non-partisan municipal campaigns and coordinating petition drives and GOTV operations to expand voter engagement.
“After 28 years of dedicated civil service to the people of Jersey City, I am honored to have the opportunity to expand my public service to all the good people of Hudson County. I am so grateful for this appointment to serve as Hudson County Superintendent of Elections, as it will allow me to continue to work towards equity for the community I have loved and celebrated throughout my career,” said Maryanne Kelleher. “I was called to public service because I wanted to make a difference, and community relationships continue to inspire me to maintain their trust and work hard for the betterment of all who call our county home.
