Elections Officials

Elections in Hudson County are administered by three divisions. These three elections divisions work cooperatively to carry out all election functions within Hudson County, but they each have distinct responsibilities.  Hudson County Election Officials & brief descriptions of their election functions are listed below:

Maryanne Kelleher
Superintendent of Elections & Commissioner of Registration

Custodian of all voting machines & poll ‘books’ – electronic tablets. Oversees delivery, return and maintenance of all voting machines/books, warehouse & warehouse staff. Commissioner of Registrations managing all new registrations, deletions, and maintains Hudson County voter history records. Oversees team of elections investigators charged with examining voting discrepancies/ violations, and reports for follow-up.

Michael Harper
Clerk to the HC Board of Elections

Inspect, selects and certifies all HC election polling locations. Recruits, appoints, trains & supervises all election day poll workers. Receives, validates & tallies all paper ballots – Provisional, Mail In, Overseas & Military. Responsible for election recounts, when required. Custodian of Hudson County Ballot Drop Boxes.

The Hudson County Clerk is responsible for: receiving election night returns, tallying all votes cast on voting machines, conducting ballot drawings and designing ballots. The HC Clerk receives and issues Vote-By-Mail applications and ballots for all elections. The Clerk’s Office maintains live election results & certifies same.
