HUDSON COUNTY EXECUTIVE CRAIG GUY ANNOUNCES 18 INDUCTEES INTO HUDSON COUNTY SPORTS HALL OF FAME

Ceremony will be headlined by the induction of the Hurley brothers as well as a new member of the Hall of Fame’s Board of Directors.

JERSEY CITY, NJ Hudson County Executive Craig Guy proudly invites residents to attend the 26th Annual Hudson County Sports Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction Ceremony at Saint Peter’s University Duncan Family Sky Room on the 6th floor of the McMahon Student Center, located at 47 Glenwood Avenue in Jersey City. The event will take place on Wednesday, October 2nd at 6:00 pm. The County Executive will induct 18 of Hudson County’s most remarkable athletes into Hudson County’s Sports Hall of Fame and will announce a new appointment to the Board of Directors, Dr. Christine Johnson.

“For over a century, sports have been a central part of people’s lives in Hudson County. Unique individuals from all over the County have dedicated countless hours to perfecting their skills and have been sent to compete at the highest levels, including the Olympic Trials, Boxing World Championships, the NFL, and the NBA. Athletes from our community have stood out wherever they have competed, making Hudson County proud.” said Hudson County Executive, Craig Guy. “Being inducted into the Hudson County Sports Hall of Fame is about more than statistics or records, it’s about the impact that these remarkable people have had on those who loved them and the sport that they are a part of. I’m proud of each of this year’s inductees, and I look forward to honoring and celebrating you on October 2nd!”

This year’s class is highlighted by brothers Dan and Bobby Hurley. Dan has led the University of Connecticut men’s basketball team to back-to-back national championships (2023, 2024). A standout at Duke University, Bobby is the all-time leader in assists in NCAA basketball history. Inductees also include former NFL players Kenny Britt and Rashawn Jackson.

The 2024 Class of Inductees to the Hudson County Sports Hall of Fame include:

  • Zac Naszimento – Secaucus
  • Wilber Valdez – Hoboken
  • Jospeh Liberti – West New York
  • Tara DeFilippo – Holy Family Academy in Bayonne
  • Kenneth Such – Jersey City (Coach)
  • John Belluardo, Jr. – North Bergen (Coach)
  • Michael A. Brown – Jersey City
  • Jerome Hayes – Bayonne
  • Edward Hochstadter, Jr. – Jersey City
  • Aracely Cruz – Union City
  • Rashawn Jackson – Jersey City
  • Joe Botti – Union City
  • Danny Hurley – Jersey City
  • Bobby Hurley – Jersey City
  • Johnny Callaway – Bayonne (Community Service)
  • Elnardo Webster Award Recipient – The Hurley Family Foundation

County Executive Guy also announced the appointment of Dr. Christine Johnson to the Hall of Fame’s Board of Directors. Johnson is the current Hoboken Superintendent of Schools and was a three-sport standout in high school, including volleyball, basketball, and hockey.
