The Warming Center, located at the Naval Reserve Facility, will be operated by Collaborative Support Programs of NJ
JERSEY CITY, NJ — Today, Hudson County Executive Craig Guy announced the opening of the Warming Center located at the Naval Reserve Facility in Kearny and will be operated by Collaborative Support Programs of NJ (CSPNJ). The goal of this warming center is to provide a warm and safe place for individuals experiencing homelessness to spend the night during the winter months. The Warming Center will be active beginning Friday, November 15, 2024, through March 31, 2025, and may be extended if a Code Blue (temperatures of 32 degrees Fahrenheit or below) is called. Additionally, when the daytime temperature does not go above 32 degrees, the Warming Center will remain open continuously.
“Hudson County is committed to providing shelter and services to our vulnerable populations during the winter,” said Hudson County Executive, Craig Guy. “With temperatures falling over the next several months, Hudson County is here to provide our community with shelter, medical services, and food. Hudson County is incredibly grateful to Alliance Community Healthcare for providing medical services and referrals for physicians and specialists on-site seven days a week.”
All emergency shelter beds and overflow slots throughout Hudson County must be filled to the greatest extent possible prior to a client being transported to the Warming Center as this location is designed to be a place of last resort for individuals experiencing homelessness. Each day, Alliance Community Healthcare will provide medical services and referrals at the Warming Center.
