JERSEY CITY, NJ — On June 26, the Hudson County Board of Commissioners passed a resolution lending its advice and consent to the appointment of Alberico G. De Pierro, Esq., to the position of Hudson County Counsel and Director of the Department of Law.

De Pierro was appointed Acting Hudson County Counsel by County Executive Craig Guy in April of this year. Previously, he had been serving as an attorney in the Law Department since 2016, became Deputy County Counsel last year, and is succeeding former County Counsel Donato Battista, Esq., who served in the position since 2003.

“I was very pleased to name Alberico as Acting County Counsel and I am happy that the Board of Commissioners consented to his permanent appointment today,” said Hudson County Executive Craig Guy. “I thank Don Battista for his many years of dedicated service to the people of Hudson County. Alberico has stepped right in and has already proven to be a trusted advisor and sharp legal mind. He is a hardworking, intelligent young attorney and I am elated to have his service in this integral role.”

De Pierro, 41, is a Jersey City native. He is a 2006 graduate of St. Peter’s University and a 2009 graduate of New York Law School. He is married, has four children, and has coached high school soccer at the varsity level for the past 12 years. As Deputy County Counsel, De Pierro has handled a diverse range of legal matters.

“Having grown up in Hudson County, I am incredibly honored and grateful to County Executive Craig Guy for this opportunity. I am eager to lead the Hudson County Counsel’s Office, working with my talented team, including newly appointed Deputy County Counsel Reana Garcia, to provide impartial legal guidance and ensure our County’s interests are legally safeguarded. I’m committed to fostering a more resilient, equitable, and prosperous future for all Hudson County residents.”

County Executive Guy also appointed Reana Garcia, Esq. as Deputy County Counsel – the first female and Hispanic Deputy County Counsel. Garcia, 33, is a graduate of University of Massachusetts – Amherst and Roger Williams University School of Law. She has been with the Hudson County Law Department since May of 2024.
