LED improvements will enhance nighttime visibility and traffic safety between West New York, North Bergen, and neighboring communities

NORTH BERGEN, NJ — On January 14, Hudson County Executive Craig Guy highlighted ongoing safety improvements along River Road – a key corridor connecting West New York and North Bergen- through a partnership with PSE&G to upgrade all existing streetlights with modern, energy-efficient LED fixtures.

River Road serves thousands of motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists each day, and the lighting upgrades are designed to enhance visibility at night, improve safety, and reduce risks for all road users. These ongoing LED upgrades along River Road reflect Hudson County’s commitment to safer, more accessible streets for all residents and visitors.

“Safety on our roads is a top priority,” said Craig Guy, Hudson County Executive. “Upgrading streetlights is one of the most effective ways to make our streets safer for everyone- drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists alike. These improvements support our Vision Zero goals by helping to prevent crashes and serious injuries while ensuring residents can move safely through our communities. I also want to thank Union City Mayor Brian Stack for his partnership and shared commitment to keeping our residents safe. It takes all of us working together to make these projects happen.”

Through this collaboration, PSE&G is replacing outdated fixtures with brighter, more reliable LED lights, providing consistent illumination across the roadway. The County is proud to work with PSE&G to bring this critical safety upgrade to residents.

“PSE&G is proud to work with Hudson County in upgrading to modern LED lighting to brighten streets and improve visibility along roadways,” said Joe McQueen, Senior Regional Public Affairs Manager. “We also want to thank County Executive Craig Guy and Mayor Stack for their leadership and partnership in making these important safety improvements possible.”
