MEETING NOTICE COUNTY OF HUDSON PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED 2023 OPEN SPACE TRUST FUND ALLOCATIONS

Please Take Notice: As required by the State of New Jersey in N.J.S.A. 40:12-15, et seq., the Hudson County Board of County Commissioners will conduct a public hearing on the proposed allocations of its Open Space Trust Fund for Funding Year 2023 on June 22, 2023 at 4:30 p.m., in the Commissioner Chambers, 567 Pavonia Avenue, 1st Floor, Jersey, City, New Jersey, at which time public comment will be taken.

In accordance with the N.J.S.A. 40:12-15.3(d), the County of Hudson is proposing the following funding allocations totaling $4,952,211 from the Hudson County Open Space, Recreation and Historic Preservation Trust Fund for the Trust Fund’s 2023 funding cycle:

Open Space Land Acquisition Projects totaling $397,225 as follows:

  • City of Jersey City – $250,000 for Clifton Pl. Acquisition
  • City of Union City – $147,225 for 4100 Palisade Ave. Acquisition

Parks and Recreation Improvement Projects totaling $4,054,986 as follows:

  • City of Bayonne – $500,000 for Improvements to 11th Street Oval
  • Borough of East Newark- $60,400 for Searing Playground Improvements
  • Town of Guttenberg – $325,586 for Veterans Memorial Dog Park Project
  • Town of Harrison – $48,000 for Cape May Street Park Dog Run
  • City of Hoboken – $475,000 for Sinatra Park Multi-Purpose Athletic Field Improvements
  • City of Jersey City – $274,000 for Thomas McGovern Playground Replacement
  • Town of Kearny – $435,000 for Futsal/ Hockey Rink Facility Storage Building and Restrooms Improvements
  • Township of North Bergen – $500,000 for Stan Newman Field Improvements Project – Turf Improvement
  • Town of Secaucus – $186,000 for Pickle Ball Installation at Buchmuller Park
  • Town of Secaucus – $400,000 for Shetik Turf Field Refurbishment and Installation
  • City of Union City – $201,000 for Washington Park Soccer Field Improvements
  • Township of Weehawken – $250,000 for Weehawken Waterfront Walkway
  • Town of West New York – $400,000 for Washington Park Improvement Project

Historic Preservation Projects totaling $500,000 as follows:

  • City of Jersey City – $500,000 for Loew’s Theatre Jersey City Exterior Rehabilitation Part 2

The anticipated commencement date for these proposed projects is on or about August 11, 2023.  The anticipated completion date for these proposed projects is by or about August 10, 2025.
