JERSEY CITY, NJ — Today, Hudson County Executive Craig Guy issued the following statement on the Anniversary of October 7th:

“Today, we honor and remember the over 1,200 lives tragically lost in the terrorist attack in Israel on October 7, 2023. As we reflect on this devastating terrorist attack, in which not only Israeli Jews, but also Muslims, Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, Israeli Arabs, and people from over 30 countries, including 46 Americans, were targeted and killed, we also pray for the safe return of the 97 hostages, including 4 Americans, in Hamas captivity.

“We also recognize the ongoing humanitarian crises in Gaza and other parts of the Middle East. Hudson County stands united in condemning all forms of violence, hatred, and discrimination, including antisemitism and Islamophobia.

“In solidarity with Governor Murphy, I have ordered flags to be flown at half-staff as we mourn the victims and acknowledge the suffering of all affected. Together, we stand resolutely against hate in all its forms, and we strive to build a future of healing, hope, unity, and resilience.”
