County Executive Guy urges residents from all 12 municipalities to step up and nominate Hudson County’s best before the buzzer
JERSEY CITY, NJ — With the clock winding down, Hudson County Executive Craig Guy is reminding residents that only two weeks remain to submit nominations for the 2026 Hudson County Sports Hall of Fame, with the application deadline set for January 31, 2026.
“This is the final stretch,” said Craig Guy, Hudson County Executive. “Hudson County has always punched above its weight in athletics. From neighborhood fields and local gyms to national championships and the world stage, our athletes represent the heart, grit, and diversity of our county. This Hall of Fame is about honoring dedication, perseverance, and the excellence that comes from every corner of Hudson County. I encourage residents to step up and make sure these stories are recognized before time runs out.”
Founded in 1991, the Hudson County Sports Hall of Fame celebrates men and women whose commitment to their sport has propelled them to compete at the highest levels — including the Olympic Trials, Boxing World Championships, the National Football League (NFL), and the National Basketball Association (NBA). Inductees reflect the full spectrum of Hudson County’s communities, showcasing the talent, resilience, and representation that define the county.
The Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony takes place every two years, with the next ceremony scheduled for Fall 2026.
Nominations can be submitted online at: hudsoncountysportshalloffame.org/nomination-application/
The 2024 Hudson County Sports Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction Ceremony, held on October 2, 2024, at Saint Peter’s University Duncan Family Sky Room, honored standout inductees including legendary men’s college basketball coaches Danny and Bobby Hurley and former NFL wide receiver Kenny Britt — a testament to Hudson County’s enduring impact on the sports world.
Nominees must have a minimum of two years of experience in Hudson County during grades 9 through 12. Applicants are asked to submit a title, biography, remarks, headshots, and a detailed list of athletic accomplishments at the high school, collegiate, or professional level. Supporting documentation is required for each accomplishment and may include newspaper articles, certificates, yearbooks, awards, programs, or congratulatory letters.
To nominate an individual for the Hudson County Sports Hall of Fame, residents may call (201) 459-2070 or email info@hudsoncountysportshalloffame.org.
With two weeks left on the clock, Hudson County residents are encouraged to help ensure the next class of inductees reflects the full talent, diversity, and championship spirit of the county.
