STATEMENT ON HUDSON COUNTY SCHOOLS OF TECHNOLOGY AUDIT FINDINGS
JERSEY CITY, NJ — This audit revealed many hard truths. It is clear the school’s previous administration engaged in questionable budgeting gimmicks, which were hidden from the school board and has led to a ballooning deficit.
Upon taking office as County Executive, I vowed to provide more accountability and transparency to all of government. I reconstituted the HCST Board, which in turn chose a new Superintendent, Tom Macagnano, to lead the school. I want to thank the new HCST administration for initiating this critical review and I am pleased that many of the recommendations made by the audit’s authors have already been implemented.
In Hudson County, we put our students first and I am confident that this new HCST leadership team will prioritize our children’s education while putting the school on sound financial footing.
