HUDSON COUNTY EXECUTIVE CRAIG GUY CELEBRATES SUCCESSFUL
SECOND ANNUAL HUDSON COUNTY SPORTS IN EDUCATION COMBINE

The Combine hosted over 600 students from 26 public schools in Hudson County

JERSEY CITY, NJ — On April 14 and April 15, Hudson County Executive Craig Guy proudly celebrated the culmination of the Hudson County Sports in Education Program with a successful Combine sponsored by Hudson County in partnership with Prime Athletic Development and the Rashawn Jackson Endowment Fund. The Combine took place at High Tech High School in Secaucus with over 600 students over the course of two days from 26 schools throughout the County.

The County Executive also highlighted the open application period for next year’s Sports in Education Program for organizations until April 26. The Sports in Education Program is a grant-funded initiative started by Hudson County; an 18-week program provides leadership, planning facilitation, sports fundamentals, and support for enhanced sports learning and education throughout Hudson County.

“It was incredible to see so many students take part in the Sports in Education Program, a dynamic initiative led by Director Gina Hulings and Program Coordinator James Rangel. Beyond developing athletic skills, these students are building discipline, confidence, determination, and a commitment to overall wellness. These are the kinds of skills that will serve them far beyond the field or court,” said Craig Guy, Hudson County Executive. “What makes this program so meaningful is the access it provides to experiences many students might not otherwise have, including one-on-one training and inspiring conversations with former professional athletes like Corey Stokes and legendary coaches like Bob Hurley. I want to thank the participating schools, their administrators, and most importantly the students for their hard work and enthusiasm. We look forward to building this program to be even better in the future!”

“This program reflects what Hudson County strives to do every day, which is to create meaningful opportunities that support the growth and development of our young people. Sports in Education brings together athletic development, mentorship, and life skills in a way that truly impacts students,” said Gina Hulings, Director of Cultural and Heritage Affairs | Tourism Development.

The participating schools included PS #17, PS #25, PS #34, PS #39, PS #41, Lincoln High School, Ferris High School, Jersey City Global Charter School, Explore Middle School, Dr. Lena Edwards Academic Charter School, Chaplain Charles Watters School PS #24, Whitney M.
