More than 1,100 children received free gifts and a special visit with Santa
JERSEY CITY, NJ — The spirit of the season was alive and shining bright on December 16 as Hudson County Executive Craig Guy and the Transport Workers Union of America hosted a joyful Holiday Toy Giveaway through the Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs | Tourism Development. Laughter, smiles, and holiday cheer filled the room as well over 1,100 children received free gifts—and captured a treasured photo with Santa Claus himself.
Families from communities across Hudson County gathered to celebrate the magic of Christmas together, creating moments that will be remembered long after the last ornament is packed away. The festive event was made possible through the generosity and dedication of union workers from New Jersey and New York, who donated toys and volunteered their time to ensure every child felt the warmth and wonder of the holiday season.
“It was truly heartwarming to see so many children and families come together to celebrate the holidays with Hudson County,” said Hudson County Executive Craig Guy. “I was thrilled to partner with union workers from across New Jersey and New York as we gave away free toys to children. Seeing that generosity and the happiness it brought to so many families, truly means a great deal to me. Moments like this remind us why community matters, and I can’t wait to come together again next year to make this holiday tradition even better!”
“The Transport Workers Union of America is proud to partner with the Hudson County Executive’s Office for this holiday toy giveaway. Serving the public is at the heart of what our members do every day, and this event allows us to extend that service directly into our communities. By working together, we’re able to reach more children and families and bring joy to the holiday season. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to compassion, community, and giving back, and we’re proud to help ensure that every child in Hudson County feels remembered during the holidays,” said Matt Wright, New Jersey State Chair for the Transport Workers Union of America.
“Watching more than 1,100 children experience the joy of this toy giveaway was truly meaningful. Thanks to the generosity and dedication of our union partners, families from across Hudson County came together to celebrate the season with hope and happiness. We wish all families and their children a joyful, safe, and peaceful holiday,” said Gina Hulings, Director of the Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs | Tourism Development.
The event reflected Hudson County’s ongoing commitment to supporting families, strengthening community bonds, and ensuring that the magic of the season reaches every child. County officials expressed their gratitude to the volunteers and partners who helped turn holiday wishes into reality and emphasized the importance of continuing traditions that bring residents together in meaningful and memorable ways.
