MEETING NOTICE COUNTY OF HUDSON PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED 2024 OPEN SPACE TRUST FUND ALLOCATIONS

Please Take Notice: As required by the State of New Jersey in N.J.S.A. 40:12-15, et seq., the Hudson County Board of County Commissioners will conduct a public hearing on the proposed allocations of its Open Space Trust Fund for Funding Year 2024 on August 8, 2024 at 1:00 p.m., in the Commissioner Chambers, 567 Pavonia Avenue, 1st Floor, Jersey, City, New Jersey, at which time public comment will be taken.

In accordance with the N.J.S.A. 40:12-15.3(d), the County of Hudson is proposing the following funding allocations totaling $8,498,822 from the Hudson County Open Space, Recreation and Historic Preservation Trust Fund for the Trust Fund’s 2024 funding cycle:

Open Space Land Acquisition Projects totaling $422,000 as follows:

  • Town of Kearny – $422,000 for Site Acquisitions for a Continuous Waterfront Recreational Park Along the Passaic River

Parks and Recreation Improvement Projects totaling $7,797,000 as follows:

  • City of Bayonne – $500,000 for Peninsula at Bayonne Harbor Waterfront Walkway Extension
  • City of Bayonne – $250,000 for Improvements to Veteran’s Park
  • Borough of East Newark – $167,000 for Veterans Soccer Field Turf
  • Town of Guttenberg – $300,000 for Guttenberg Dog Park Project
  • Town of Harrison – $300,000 for Policemen’s Park Playground Rehabilitation
  • City of Hoboken – $250,000 for Hoboken Skate Park and Walkway Upgrades Project
  • City of Hoboken – $500,000 for Church Square Park Improvement Project – Phase 1
  • City of Jersey City – $500,000 for Skinner Park Improvements Project
  • City of Jersey City – $250,000 for Martiniak-Enright Park Improvements Project
  • City of Jersey City – $500,000 for City Hall Park
  • Jersey City Redevelopment Authority – $500,000 for Bayfront Promenade Park Phase I
  • Town of Kearny – $150,000 for Kearny Recreational Center Site Improvements
  • Township of North Bergen – $500,000 for Pickleball Court Improvements to Stan Newman Field
  • Township of North Bergen – $250,000 for Improvements to the North Bergen Recreation Center
  • Town of Secaucus – $500,000 for Ivanoski Park Inclusive Playground Project
  • City of Union City – $500,000 for Liberty Place Playground
  • City of Union City – $500,000 for 4100 Palisade Avenue Soccer Field
  • Township of Weehawken – $500,000 for Louisa Park Improvement Project
  • Township of Weehawken – $250,000 for Weehawken Pedestrian Bridge & Waterfront Walkway
  • Town of West New York – $330,000 for Fillmore Park Improvement Project: Playground
  • Town of West New York – $300,000 for Fillmore Park Improvement Project: Safety Improvements

Historic Preservation Projects totaling $279,822 as follows:

  • Old Bergen Church – $100,000 for Old Bergen Church Cemetery Restoration Project
  • Hudson County Parks – $179,822 for Historic Preservation of Lincoln Park Sun Houses

The anticipated commencement date for these proposed projects is on or about September 26, 2024.  The anticipated completion date for these proposed projects is by or about September 25, 2026.
