Local Emergency Planning Committee Meeting Invite

Dear LEPC Member:

As you may be aware, the County of Hudson is required under the federal Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) to have an active and functioning Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC).

The activities of this committee include development/maintenance of an emergency response plan for chemical accidents, receiving chemical reports from covered facilities, and making that information available to the public.

Representation on the LEPC from the following groups is required by statute: state/tribal/local officials, law enforcement, firefighting, emergency management, health, broadcast communications media, print media, emergency medical services, transportation, local environmental group, community group, and facility owners/operators subject to the provisions of EPCRA.

For us to have a successful LEPC, which is vital in protecting the citizens in our community from potential chemical accidents, our LEPC has selected individuals for participation.

Since your facility or agency is subject to the reporting and/or participating in the provisions of EPCRA and plays a vital role in the emergency planning process, you have been selected to represent your facility or agency and be an active member on the LEPC.

Your expertise and knowledge would be of great value to the LEPC.

The LEPC meets two times per year at The Hudson County Emergency Operations Center at 110 South Hackensack Ave. Kearny, N.J. 07032

The meetings begin promptly and last no more than two hours unless there is a special presentation or a special situation that needs to be addressed.

My mailing address is 830 Bergen Ave. Jersey City, N.J. 70306; you can also contact me by email at jwoods@hcnj.us or reach me by phone at 201-369-5200.

The LEPC Organizational Meeting will take place on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 10:00.
