JERSEY CITY, NJ — Today, Hudson County Executive Craig Guy issued a statement regarding the vote taken by New Jersey City University’s Board of Trustees accepting Kean University’s proposal to merge with NJCU:
“As Hudson County Executive, I have faith that Interim President Andrés Acebo and the current Board Members will work closely with Kean University to ensure the spirit, heart and legacy of NJCU and the Jersey City community will be in the forefront of this merger.
“Just two years ago, New Jersey City University was on the brink of collapse. But their merger with Kean University ensures the educational institute can continue providing residents in Hudson County and Jersey City the opportunity to attend an affordable four-year college. The combined efforts of NCJU and Kean University mean opportunities abound – for their students, faculty and staff – in the form of enhanced student access, diverse academic programs and strong infrastructure.”
