Meadowview Psychiatric Hospital is an 84-bed specialized, county psychiatric facility, offering three levels of comprehensive inpatient psychiatric care to voluntary and involuntary committed adults that hold a mental health diagnosis.  The Hospital primarily services the residents of Hudson County; however, admissions are accepted from outside counties as well.  In accordance with the Hospital’s Mission and Vision, MPH staff seeks to provide quality care based on the Wellness and Recovery treatment model.  Meadowview provides a structured, safe environment to facilitate stabilization, recovery, and return to the community.

Treatment at MPH utilizes a multidisciplinary team approach.  All patients are assigned to a treatment team consisting of a psychiatrist, medical doctor, psychologist, social worker, nurse, substance abuse counselor and mental health worker who meet with them on a regular basis. MPH patients are also encouraged to participate in rehabilitative and recreational groups that will assist them in problem solving, improving social skills, and preparing for re-entry into the community.  Participation in groups and recreational activities is rewarded through a STEP system; the STEP system has three levels that encourage patients to work towards treatment goals. The ultimate goal for all of our patients is successful re-entry into the community with the social supports, skills, and inner strengths needed to avoid future decompensation. This goal is achieved through direct efforts within the hospital focused on education as well as referrals and linkages to community programs and resources.
