JERSEY CITY, NJ — Today, Hudson County Executive Craig Guy, the Board of County Commissioners, and Congressman Rob Menendez (NJ-08) celebrated autism acceptance with Hudson County’s 3rd Annual Autism Acceptance flag raising at the Historic Brennan Court House in partnership with Whole Spectrum Autism. County Executive Guy, Board of Commissioners Chairman Anthony Romano, Congressman Menendez Whole Spectrum Autism Founder and Board President Sherry Singh, and Whole Spectrum Autism Executive Director Rachel Sieg delivered remarks.

“Hudson County is proud to celebrate Autism Acceptance Month and raise this flag in honor of autistic individuals in our community. Here in Hudson County, we celebrate our differences as a community – sharing those special parts of us that bring us all closer to one another,” said Hudson County Executive Craig Guy. “As your County Executive, I am proud to help create a safer, more welcoming world for us all and work every day to provide the services and opportunities all our residents need to succeed.”

“Being an autism mom means finding strength in the struggles and love in the silence. I started Whole Spectrum Autism for my son, but along the way, I’ve found a community fighting for acceptance and a brighter future for all,” said Sherry Singh, Founder and Board President of Whole Spectrum Autism.

Hudson County’s Department of Health and Human Services provides initiatives designed to supply residents with autism the resources and support they need. The Department runs Project SEARCH through the Office of Inclusion and Accessibility, an unpaid internship program that provides young adults with the opportunity to explore different career paths and develop job skills. The Office of Inclusion and Accessibility also offers the Roam and Detect (RAD) Program, providing a GPS/voice monitoring device to adults and children with disabilities.
